The Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, +0.72% dropped 1.1% early Wednesday, while Hong Kong stocks swung between small gains and losses

The S&P 500 closed up less than a point at 2 080.15. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day flat at 17 764.04. The Nasdaq Composite lost 7.8 points, or 0.2%, to 5 013.87.

The Stoxx Europe 600 lost 0.4% to end at 383.87, logging a sixth straight session of losses, its longest losing streak since December. The pan-European benchmark was dragged down by a 0.6% fall on Germany’s DAX which slipped to close at 11 001.29. France’s CAC 40 index fell nearly 0.2% to finish at 4 850.22, while the U.K.’s FTSE 100 index dropped 0.5% to end at 6 753.80.

The Hang Seng Index was up 0.2% and the Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.2%.

The US dollar is currently trading at 1.13 to the euro 1.54 to the pound and will buy 122.66 Japanese Yen or 12.33 South African Rand.

The All-share index traded 0.58% lower at 51 326 points, while the Top 40-index lost 0.77% to 45 5888 points.
