  • U.S. stocks ended a turbulent Friday trading session with big losses, as selling on Wall Street accelerated in the final hour. European stocks fell Friday, with data highlighting the European Central Bank’s troubles with low inflation levels, but the region’s equity benchmark was still on track for its best monthly performance in more than three years. Hong Kong stocks moved lower Monday, heading for a third day of losses, after two separate gauges of China’s manufacturing activity showed weakness for January.
  • Spot gold is currently trading at US$ 1 280.30/oz. and platinum at US$ 1 234.70/oz. Brent crude oil is currently trading at US$ 51.69 per barrel.
  • The US dollar is currently trading at 1.13 to the euro, 1.51 to the pound and will buy 117.81 Japanese Yen or 11.53 South African Rand.
