Highlights

 U.S. stock-index futures late Sunday pointed to a lower open for Wall Street.  Spot gold is currently trading at US$ 1 150.30/oz. and platinum at US$ 1 192.70/oz. Brent crude oil is currently trading at US$ 68.58 per barrel.

 The US dollar is currently trading at 1.24 to the euro, 1.56 to the pound and will buy 118.90 Japanese Yen or 11.08 South African Rand.

International markets

S&P 500 implied a 0.4% drop at the start of Monday trading at 2 068.21. The Dow Jones Industrial Average suggested a 3% drop at 17 828. Nasdaq 100 suggested a 0.3% pullback at 4 792.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index finished off session lows, ending down 0.1% at 347.25. France’s CAC 40 on Friday rose 0.2% to 4 390.18, pushing up its monthly rise to 3.7%, while Germany’s DAX 30 index climbed 0.7% to 9 edged up 0.1% to 9 980.85. It finished the week higher by 2.6%, and the month higher by 7%377.41. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 index UKX, slipped less than 1 point to 6 723.40.

The Hang Seng Index was down 1.8% while the Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.4%

The US dollar is currently trading at 1.24 to the euro, 1.56 to the pound and will buy 118.90 Japanese Yen or 11.08 South African Rand.

Domestic markets

The JSE Top 40 index gained 0.35% to 44 910 and the broader All-share index added 0.4% to 50 557.

Commodities
