Highlights

 The U.S. stock market ended Monday with best gains in nearly a month that sent both the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average to record levels. European stocks advanced Monday, with mining shares rising after an upgrade of the sector, and with Sky Deutschland AG rallying on the prospect that British Sky Broadcasting PLC may take control of the pay-TV provider. Asian stocks were mixed after a lower-than-expected consumer-inflation reading from China, leading analysts to predict further policy easing from the country’s central bank.

 The All-share index was 0.49% higher on 49 093 points and the Top 40-index rose 0.59% to 44 000.

 Spot gold is currently trading at US$ 1 292.00/oz. and platinum at US$ 1 436.40/oz. Brent crude oil is currently trading at US$ 108.41 per barrel

International Markets

Asian stocks were mixed after a lower-than-expected consumer-inflation reading from China, leading analysts to predict further policy easing from the country’s central bank.

The S&P 500 had the best one-day percentage gain since April 16, adding 18.17 points, or 1%, to 1 896.65. The Dow Jones Average also closed at record high, after adding 148.15 points, or 1.9%, to 7 867.45. The Nasdaq Composite gained the most in more than three months, adding 72 points, or 1.8% to 4 143.86, led by gains in momentum names.

The Stoxx Europe 600 closed up 0.7% at 340.96, the highest finish since Jan. The FTSE 100 closed up by 0.6% at 6 851.75. In Frankfurt, the DAX 30 index surged 1.3% to 9 702.46.13. France’s CAC 40 rose 0.4% to 4 493.65.

The Japan Nikkei Average ending up 0.3%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index reversed opening losses and finished 0.1% higher.
