Highlights

 The U.S. stock market closed higher Tuesday, with the S&P 500 extending its winning streak to six days, the longest streak of gains since September 2013. European stocks rose Tuesday, aided by strength from a number of pharmaceutical shares. Asian stocks rose Tuesday as the U.S. dollar hovered around a two-week high against the yen.

 The Top-40 index was up 0.61 percent to 43,711.36, close to a life record of 43 840.65 hit earlier this month. The All-share gained 0.58% to 48 643.31, also close to the record high.

 Spot gold is currently trading at US$ 1 284.30/oz. and platinum at US$ 1 404.40/oz. Brent crude oil is currently trading at US$ 109.19 per barrel.

International Markets

European stocks rose Tuesday, aided by strength from a number of pharmaceutical shares. Asian stocks rose Tuesday as the U.S. dollar hovered around a two-week high against the yen.

The S&P 500 ended the day 7.66 points, or 0.4%, higher at 1 879.55, rising for six straight sessions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed off session highs, but still gained 65.12 points, or 0.4%, to 16 514.37. The NASDAQ Composite added 39.91 points, or 1%, to 4 161.46

The Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.9% to 335.25. U.K.’s FTSE 100 index rose 0.8% to 6,677.60. Germany’s DAX 30 pushed 0.9% higher to 9,490.33, and France’s CAC 40 index advanced 0.4% to 4,448.21

Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 0.3% at 14552.81 in morning trade. The U.S. dollar was last changing hands at ¥102.65 after hitting a two-week high at ¥102.71 following weak Japanese trade data.
